It’s nearly a year on from the arrival of Lordina’s Amphora and we have added their other wines to our list first up is the Message Red, a blend of 80% Grenache Negra and 20 % Carinena. Lordina wines are produced in the Empordà, a region in north-eastern Spain. Empordà is the name of Northern Catalunya and is locate between the Pyrenees and the Costa Brava, beside the Cap de Crues. As i mentioned in the previous blog about the Amphora, the Greeks brought viticulture to Spain and this area around 600BC, so there has been a long tradition of wine production in this area.

The Message Red is aged for 4 months in french oak prior to bottling. The wine pours a lovely intense garnet red colour with violet shades around the edge of the glass. Aromas of red fruits and soft mediterranean spices swirl around nice toasty oak nuances. The palate has a fresh medium to full body with great structure and nice dark cherry notes compliment by sweet spice.
